Personal Problems Tests
You may have wondered if your personal
problems are as great as those of other persons. We all have worries and
fears and occasionally feel discouraged, sad, lonely or depressed. Some
of us have had very stressful experiences that continue to trouble us
months or years later. Some have had difficulty sitting still or
concentrating, especially in school. Some have trouble obeying laws or
resolving our angry feelings. The tests in this section were developed
to carefully measure the symptoms of these conditions. You may take them
to see if you might want to consider seeking professional assistance.
Take your test report with you if you do and discuss your scores with
your treatment professional. Your treatment professional can refer to
this web site for more information, such as the Technical Information
About Tests.
AVAILABLE TESTS
McConochie ADHD Scale (McADHD)
This 58-item test has been normed on both children and adults. The
report provides separate scores for Attention Deficit and for
Hyperactivity. It also provides an "alternative explanation score",
based on included brief
measures of Big Five personality traits and intelligence. Research has
shown that this alternative explanation dimension correlates highly with
ADHD symptoms as reported by the client (or rating parent). Many cases
of ADHD appear explained by extreme scores on normal personality traits
and intelligence.

McConochie Anxiety and Worry Scale (McA&W)
This 90-item scale measures symptoms of
clinical anxiety and provides several
section scores to help you make differential diagnoses between various
anxiety disorders (agoraphobia, panic disorder, generalized anxiety
disorder, paranoia, etc.). It also provides a separate measure of worry
and information about what, specifically, worries
the client.

McConochie At Risk for Violence Test
(McARFV)
This 58-item questionnaire assesses ten traits that
put children and adults at risk for delinquent and criminal behavior,
including violent acts. Persons with elevated scores on this test
are more prone to antisocial behaviors than those with lower scores.
Knowing specific areas of at-riskness can help change
them, as by improving friendships and career satisfaction, being less
rigid in thinking, feeling guilty and sorry for
wrongdoing and reducing access to guns and violent movies, video
games and music. You may also choose to seek professional assistance to
explore your specific areas of at-riskness.
