Corrections Personnel

I have two tests of focal value to corrections personnel: The McConochie At Risk for Violence test (McARFV) and the HAAPI (Helping Adolescents and Adults Plan Inventory). The HAAPI includes the McARFV within it. These instruments provide profiles of troubled persons that are quite rich and poignant in import. If you have the resources to truly help people, these instruments will give you clear starting points on which to focus your efforts.

      AVAILABLE TESTS

McConochie At Risk for Violence Test (McARFV)

This 58-item questionnaire assesses ten traits that put children and adults at risk for delinquent and criminal behavior, including violent acts. Persons with elevated scores on this test are more prone to antisocial behaviors than those with lower scores. Knowing specific areas of at-riskness can help change them, as by improving friendships and career satisfaction, being less rigid in thinking, feeling guilty and sorry for wrongdoing and reducing access to guns and violent movies, video games and music. You may also choose to seek professional assistance to explore your specific areas of at-riskness.

Length of Test: 10 minutes
Price:
$7.95

Helping Adolescents and Adults Plan Inventory (HAAPI)

The HAAPI is a 305-item inventory designed to measure all of the factors that prior research has associated with delinquent behavior, such as difficult family circumstances, drug and alcohol abuse at an early age, associating with delinquent peers and poor feeling management skills. The HAAPI includes the McARFV within it (see McARFV above). It provides separate scores for each of the many dimensions measured. Initial norming was done on only 33 teenagers, so additional norming is needed. Clinicians and researchers interested in helping with such norming should contact me, especially if they can foresee immediate use of the instrument in their settings once the HAAPI is normed. This test could easily be adapted for use with adults also, simply by norming it on adults.

Length of Test: An hour, or more, depending on reading skill
Age Level: Adults & Teens
Price:
None until norming is expanded

Corrections personnel might also be interested in other tests described elsewhere on this site. See for example the tests listed as Clinical Products
